Once the revamping of your kitchen is underway it is a better idea to replace the old sink with a new one in order to revive the serenity of your kitchen.

Removing the old sink and putting a new one in place is not a daunting task. Keeping the right logic and the required plumbing tools in tact, the whole task can be limited to a one-day project only.

Beforehand select the new sink for your kitchen taking into account the space available for the sink as well as the material of the sink. Start off the campaign by taking measurements of the old sink and how much space it acquired in the middle. Based on these measurements, sort out the new sink type. Nowadays stainless sinks are preferred over other sinks because they are less susceptible to corrosion and decay. Also they fit properly into the counter top leveling the upper surface of the sink with the counter top. Hence no voids are created between the counter top and the sink edges easing the cleaning task. The clips attached well to the sink beneath the fixture render a rigid setup as well.

Alternatively porcelain sinks with their heavy weights and no additional clips can be bought as well. The problem with the porcelain sinks is that they rise above the surface of the counter top due to their rising edges and hence wiping the debris from the counter top into the sink becomes difficult.

Once the make and size of the new sink is well apprehended, move to the sink site to remove the old sink from the fixture. Turn off the main valve to cut the water supply to the sink. Detach the drain pipe from the sink with the help of appropriate wrenches and pliers.

Take a Hudec wrench or a normal wrench to detach the clips located below the sink. Break off the cement or the plaster that is holding the sink to the counter top.

Take out the sink from the fixture by pushing it upwards. Take it out slowly and place it in a convenient location. Insert the new sink into place and attach clips to it.

Plaster the setup well and turn on the water supply to the sink.
